The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same. Carlos Castaneda
I am working it, every day, investing in my happiness. Learning to bring myself back to center when I feel the swing has swung me too far this a way or that. Small adjustments. Frequent small adjustments when my mind runs away with itself. I call her back and say "There there now, breath through this moment." Sometimes I have to get firm with her. "That is enough. Change the channel. Change it now." Sometimes my brain is an unruly wild child and needs a time out. Sometimes my feelings are like giant waves.
I whisper to myself. There, there now little girl. I see you. I hear you. You are not forgotten. I am coming for you.
Like brushing your teeth and changing your underwear, I think there are essential practices you must practice every day.
Practice bliss.
Practice patience.
Practice compassion.
Practice love.
Try it on yourself.
Choose your thoughts.
Choose your focus.
Do the work.
The happy work.
Ain't nobody gonna come and do it for you.
Ain't nobody gonna get it right like you.

VERY wise words, though easier said than done sometimes. :( I am in such a bad spot myself right now.
Please come visit my blog, one post has a surprise for you, another post explains why I am in such a dark place at the moment.
Hugs,
Susan
Well sister you should have put these words in BOLD because you are so right on. It truly takes more energy to be miserable than to be content. Happy is something we have no right to feel on a constant basis, but a feeling of contentment, blessedness and belonging is our given right through Jesus Christ as believers and to refuse those feelings is a big slap in His face. But we are only human and as humans we forget easily and as you said, must keep on reminding ourselves. I hope you have a charming weekend and be sweet to yourself!
This was a post that I really needed to read today. Thanks for sharing it.
Hugs & love,
Mimi
