This morning I walked in my sixth Relay as a six year advanced stage breast cancer Survivor. Breast cancer sucks folks, and cancer treatment too, but I'm still kickin it, celebrating, remembering, and fighting back.

First Relay summer of 2010, in chemo. Now I'm 6 years cancer free! |
We sure missed this girl this morning, my son Adam's fiance' and high school sweetheart, Cara Hansen.
Our last Relay together |
When you were in remission, and we were flying high, both survivors. |
The unthinkable happened when Cara passed away after a three year battle with leukemia. She was only 23 years old. We sure missed you Girl this morning, and every day without you.
When cancer happens, it happens to the whole family and it is devastating. Relay for Life is the largest fundraiser for cancer research, support and education for cancer peeps, and all kinds of programs including Hope Lodge providing lodging for families whose loved one is in treatment. When I needed answers, they were there. When I needed hope, they were there. When I needed to make difficult treatment decisions, they were there. I am grateful to the American Cancer Society for all the support I received in the days after my diagnosis, and going forward.
It's not too late if you'd like to donate towards my Relay goal this year, just click on the link! your donation is well worth the money spent, and is tax deductible. Thank you!
